Samsung has officially introduced the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 during the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event held in London on July 22, 2026. Built for outdoor adventurers, athletes, divers, and fitness enthusiasts, Samsung's latest premium smartwatch delivers significant upgrades in performance, battery life, display technology, durability, and health tracking over its predecessor while retaining the rugged titanium design that defines the Ultra series.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon Wear Elite platform, which features a redesigned architecture for faster performance and improved power efficiency. Paired with 2GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, Wear OS 7, and One UI 9 Watch, the smartwatch offers smoother navigation, faster app launches, better multitasking, and enhanced overall responsiveness. Samsung has also doubled the onboard storage compared to the previous generation, giving users more room for offline music, apps, and maps.
One of the standout features of the new smartwatch is its 1.52-inch Super AMOLED display, which reaches an impressive 5,000 nits of peak brightness, making it the world's brightest smartwatch display. This major improvement significantly enhances visibility under direct sunlight, allowing users to easily read notifications, maps, workout statistics, and other information while running, hiking, cycling, or engaging in other outdoor activities. The display also supports an Always-On Display mode for added convenience.
Battery life has received a major boost as well. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 packs a large 800mAh battery, representing approximately a 35% increase over the original model. Samsung claims the smartwatch can deliver up to 60 hours of battery life, making it suitable for multi-day adventures and extended GPS workout sessions. The larger battery is complemented by improved wireless fast charging, reducing downtime between uses.
Despite housing a much larger battery, Samsung has managed to make the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 even slimmer than its predecessor. The smartwatch features a 47mm titanium case, measures just 10.7mm thick, and weighs 61.5 grams, making it the slimmest Galaxy Watch Ultra to date. It will be available in Titanium Silver and Titanium Gray, offering a premium look while maintaining the durability expected from Samsung's flagship outdoor smartwatch.
Durability remains one of the biggest strengths of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. The smartwatch features a titanium body and carries an IP69K rating, providing protection against dust, high-pressure water jets, and high-temperature water. It also offers 10ATM water resistance, MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability, and EN13319 certification, making it suitable for demanding outdoor environments and professional diving activities.
Samsung has also expanded the watch's diving capabilities through a partnership with Mares, introducing a built-in Dive Computer that meets the EN13319 international diving standard. The smartwatch supports real-time nitrogen absorption monitoring, No-Decompression Limit (NDL) guidance, dive telemetry, underwater activity tracking, and ocean diving support, making it a valuable companion for recreational as well as experienced divers.
For outdoor enthusiasts, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 introduces several new navigation and fitness features. Users can access turn-by-turn navigation, route elevation previews, real-time hydration guidance, Trail Run insights, Nutrition Alerts, and enhanced GPS tracking to help improve safety and performance during hiking, cycling, trail running, climbing, and other outdoor adventures.
Health monitoring has also been enhanced with Samsung's updated BioActive Sensor Suite. The smartwatch offers continuous heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen (SpO₂) tracking, sleep tracking, Sleep Apnea detection, cardiovascular monitoring, stress tracking, AI-powered workout coaching, and advanced fitness analytics. These features provide users with deeper health insights while helping them optimize their daily wellness and exercise routines.
Compared to the original Galaxy Watch Ultra, the new model introduces several meaningful upgrades. The display brightness has increased from 3,000 nits to 5,000 nits, improving outdoor visibility in bright sunlight. Battery capacity has grown from 590mAh to 800mAh, extending battery life to as much as 60 hours. Samsung has also upgraded the processor to the Snapdragon Wear Elite, doubled the storage from 32GB to 64GB, improved durability with IP69K protection and EN13319 dive certification, and reduced the overall thickness by around 12%, making the smartwatch more comfortable to wear without compromising its rugged construction.
Samsung has priced the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 at $699.99 for the LTE model. The smartwatch will be available in Titanium Silver and Titanium Gray, with pre-orders already open and official sales beginning on August 7, 2026.
