Samsung has officially unveiled its newest premium foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, during the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event held in London on July 22, 2026. The latest addition to Samsung's foldable lineup introduces a refreshed book-style design that is slimmer, lighter, and more durable than previous generations. With a high-strength titanium alloy display structure, an upgraded hinge, advanced Galaxy AI features, and flagship-level hardware, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is designed to deliver a premium smartphone and tablet experience in one device.
One of the biggest highlights of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is its redesigned book-style form factor. Samsung has made the phone shorter and slightly wider, creating a more comfortable grip while giving users a larger and more practical display when unfolded. Measuring just 4.5 mm thick when open and 9.7 mm when folded, the device is also the company's lightest Fold smartphone ever, weighing only 201 grams. The refined hinge mechanism allows for smoother opening and closing while significantly reducing the visibility of the display crease. Samsung has also strengthened the device with a titanium alloy display structure that improves durability without increasing its weight.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 features two premium AMOLED displays designed for different everyday tasks. The 5.5-inch cover display with a 10:16 aspect ratio is optimized for messaging, browsing, and social media, while the larger 7.6-inch foldable inner display offers a 4:3 aspect ratio that creates a mini-tablet experience ideal for multitasking, reading e-books, streaming movies, gaming, and productivity. Both displays support an adaptive 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate, deliver up to 3,000 nits peak brightness, and feature improved crease reduction for a more immersive viewing experience.
Photography is another major focus of the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Samsung has equipped the device with a versatile camera system that includes a 50MP Ultra-Wide camera, a 50MP Wide camera with 2x Optical Quality Zoom, and 10MP front-facing cameras on both the cover display and the main foldable screen. Combined with Samsung's AI-powered image processing, the camera system is designed to capture detailed photos, vibrant colors, and improved low-light images while also providing enhanced video recording capabilities.
Despite its thinner profile, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 packs a 4,800mAh battery that Samsung says can deliver more than 26 hours of video playback on a single charge. The smartphone supports 45W wired fast charging and 20W wireless charging, allowing users to quickly recharge when needed. Galaxy AI also helps optimize battery usage by intelligently managing power consumption based on individual usage patterns, helping extend battery life throughout the day.
Samsung has continued to improve durability with the new foldable by combining its titanium alloy display structure with a redesigned hinge and an IP48 water and dust resistance rating, making the Galaxy Z Fold 8 more reliable for everyday use while maintaining its premium build quality. The company has also deeply integrated Galaxy AI throughout the device, offering intelligent features that enhance multitasking, AI photo editing, writing assistance, content summarization, real-time translation, and overall productivity. These AI-powered tools work seamlessly with the larger foldable display, making the smartphone suitable for both entertainment and professional use.
